The GUHRING 9031480019800 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining applications. Part of the Guhring Series 3148, it features a 0.0781 inch (5/64 inch) cutting diameter, a 0.25 inch length of cut, and a 1.5 inch overall length. The tool carries a FIREX multi-layer coating that increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in abrasive and elevated-temperature cutting conditions. With a 30-degree helix angle and two right-hand spiral flutes, it provides efficient chip evacuation and consistent cutting performance on a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators rely on this end mill for tight-tolerance profiling, slotting, and contouring work.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a small-diameter, short-reach tool is required. The straight cylindrical shank diameter of 0.125 inch (1/8 inch) fits standard ER collets and precision tool holders commonly found in production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, and P indicate suitability for cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Secondary material code S indicates it can also be applied to heat-resistant superalloys with appropriate parameters. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling.
Suitable for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with standard ER or precision collet toolholders accepting a 0.125 inch straight shank. Compatible with workpiece material codes K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or tool holder. Use a calibrated torque wrench on the collet nut to secure the shank without over-tightening, which can cause shank damage or runout. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, particularly given the small diameter of this tool.
