The GUHRING 9030990158700 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Part of the Series 3099 lineup, this single-end mill features a FIREX coating, variable helix flute geometry with angles ranging from 35 to 38 degrees, and a centercutting design that allows both plunge and peripheral cutting. The 5/8 inch diameter with a 3/4 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length makes it a compact stub-length tool suited for rigid setups where tool deflection must be minimized. Four spiral right-hand flutes with right-hand cutting direction provide efficient chip evacuation across a range of materials. It weighs 0.75 pounds.
This end mill is designed for machining cast iron and steel as primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for hard materials, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive engagement in compatible collet and end mill holders, making it appropriate for CNC machining centers and manual mills where secure tool retention is required. The stub length type reduces overhang and supports improved rigidity during heavy cuts or when machining harder alloys. The FIREX coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life in ferrous cutting applications.
Designed for use in standard 5/8 inch end mill holders and Weldon-style collet chucks. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron and steel; secondary materials include hard materials, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys per Series 3099 application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer specifications for tool holding and runout. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe lockout state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat securely against the set screw in the holder to prevent tool pull-out under axial cutting loads. Verify runout at the tool tip before commencing cuts, particularly when machining harder secondary materials.
