The GUHRING 9030990127000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-removal applications. Built to Series 3099 standards, this single-end tool features a 0.5-inch diameter, a 0.625-inch length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length with a stub-length profile. The FIREX finish provides elevated hardness and heat resistance to extend tool life at higher cutting speeds. A variable helix geometry, with angles ranging between 35 and 38 degrees, reduces chatter and harmonics during cutting. This tool is configured for right-hand cutting and right-hand spiral flutes, and it is centercutting-capable for direct plunge entry.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron, steel, stainless steel, and hard materials in both production and job-shop environments. The stub-length configuration improves rigidity in tight setups where tool deflection is a concern. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive engagement in side-lock holders, making it appropriate for high-feed roughing and finishing passes on CNC machining centers. It is commonly installed by machinists and tooling specialists working on ferrous and high-alloy workpieces.
Rated for primary use in cast iron and steel workpieces, with secondary suitability for hard materials, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys per material codes K, P, H, M, and S. Compatible with standard 0.5-inch bore side-lock and Weldon-style toolholders.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an estop or tool-change state. Secure the Weldon flat in a properly torqued side-lock holder per the toolholder manufacturer specification to prevent slippage under load. Verify runout at the cutting edge before first use, as excess runout accelerates uneven flute wear on carbide tooling. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; flood or mist coolant should be directed at the cutting zone externally.
