The GUHRING 9030860079400 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining operations. Part of the Series 3086 line, it features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length with a matching 5/16 inch straight cylindrical shank. The 45-degree helix spiral flute geometry and FIREX coating work together to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life when cutting ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. With three right-hand flutes and centercutting capability, this end mill handles slotting, profiling, and plunge cuts in a single setup. It is sized and built for CNC machining centers and manual mills used by toolmakers and machinists across job shop and production environments.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron, stainless steel, and steel, covering ISO material groups K, M, and P. The stub length configuration keeps overhang minimal, which improves rigidity and reduces chatter during aggressive cuts. It is a practical choice for tight-tolerance work where tool deflection must be controlled, including finish passes on steel components and interrupted cuts in cast iron. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cut orientation are standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank collet chucks, ER collet systems, and end mill holders accepting a 5/16 inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron, stainless steel, and steel (ISO K, M, P). Secondary workpiece material codes listed are N and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before loading or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder to the recommended grip length to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the manufacturer cutting data for the specific workpiece material before starting a cut.
