The GUHRING 9030780127000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in demanding shop environments. Built on GUHRING's Series 3078 platform, it features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and four flutes with a 40/42 variable helix angle. The FIREX coating provides elevated heat resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 1/2 inch shank diameter and a 3-1/2 inch overall length, the tool fits standard collet and end mill holders. Right-hand cutting geometry makes it suitable for conventional milling setups on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations in production and job-shop environments. The variable helix design reduces chatter and harmonics during aggressive cuts, making it effective on harder steels, alloys, and stainless materials. The corner chamfer end type provides added edge strength at the cutting tip, which reduces chipping during interrupted cuts or entry into hardened workpieces. It is a single-end tool, so the full cutting geometry is concentrated at one end for maximum rigidity. Typical applications include die-making, fixture fabrication, and precision part production where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production end mill for use in 1/2 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked before inserting or removing the tool from any holder. Verify collet size and holder bore match the 1/2 inch shank diameter before clamping. Follow shop-standard runout checks after installation to confirm concentricity before beginning a cut.
