The GUHRING 9029210080030 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in M8 x 0.50 metric fine thread applications. Built from powdered metal and coated with TiAlN, it is engineered for cutting threads in demanding materials including nickel alloys, nickel, titanium, and titanium alloys. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral design with a slow flute style and 10-degree helix angle evacuates chips upward out of the blind hole during the tapping cycle. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard plug tap. This tool is suited for use by machinists and tool-room technicians in production and maintenance environments.
This tap is intended for blind hole threading operations where chip evacuation is critical to thread quality and tool life. The 6H class of fit and D3-D4 thread limit produce threads within standard metric fine tolerance ranges. Its TiAlN coating improves heat resistance, making it a practical choice for harder, heat-generating materials like titanium alloy and nickel-based superalloys. It does not require coolant-through capability, making it compatible with standard tapping setups on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual tapping arms.
Rated for threading in nickel alloy, nickel, titanium, and titanium alloy workpiece materials. Designed for blind hole threading applications in the GUHRING Series 2921 tap line. Fits standard M8 shank toolholders and tapping collets.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with tapping operations and speeds-and-feeds selection for the workpiece material. Ensure the machine spindle and any tapping attachment are fully stopped before tool changes. Use a tapping fluid or cutting oil appropriate for the workpiece material when coolant-through is not available. Verify proper alignment between tap axis and hole axis before engaging the cut to prevent tap breakage.
