The GUHRING 9029030080040 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in metric fine applications. Built from powdered metal high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, it delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to standard HSS taps. The plug chamfer eases entry into pre-drilled holes, and the 4-flute spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting zone. This tap is sized for M8x0.75 threads with a 6HX class of fit, right-hand thread direction, and a D4/D5 thread limit. It is installed by machinists, tool and die makers, and precision fabricators working in production or maintenance environments.
This tap is suited for through-hole threading in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a metric fine M8x0.75 thread is required. The 90 mm overall length and 8 mm shank diameter fit standard tap holders and machine spindles. With a 14 mm thread length and 21 mm neck length, it provides adequate reach for most standard through-hole applications in manual or CNC tapping operations. Coolant-through is not supported, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended for production use.
Designed for through-hole threading applications requiring an M8x0.75 metric fine thread. Compatible with standard tap holders accepting an 8 mm shank diameter and a 6.20 mm square drive. Part of the GUHRING Series 2903 spiral point tap line.
This tap is intended for use by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians in manual or CNC tapping operations. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the pre-drilled hole diameter matches the correct tap drill size for M8x0.75 before beginning. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or external coolant to reduce heat buildup, as this tap does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and replace at the first sign of edge deterioration to avoid thread damage in the workpiece.
