The GUHRING 9029010040000 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in metric M4 x 0.7 applications. Built from powdered metal and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, it is engineered for use in difficult-to-machine materials including special and super titanium alloys. The plug chamfer geometry eases thread entry, while the 3-flute spiral point design pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting zone, keeping the flutes clear during the cut. The tap meets a 6H class of fit with a D3/D4 thread limit, making it suitable for close-tolerance metric threading work. Overall length is 63 millimeters with a 4.5-millimeter shank diameter. This tap is sold individually.
This tap is intended for through-hole threading operations on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines where coolant-through tooling is not required. Its primary material application is special and super titanium alloys, where high cutting forces and heat generation demand a hard, wear-resistant coating such as TiCN. Right-hand cut orientation is standard. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and precision manufacturing professionals working in aerospace, medical device, and industrial fabrication environments will find this tap suited to their high-performance threading requirements.
Designed for M4 x 0.7 metric through-hole threading applications per the GUHRING Series 2901 specification. Suitable for use in materials classified as special and super titanium alloys.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers following standard tapping procedures for metric threads. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is securely fixtured before tap changes. Use a tapping fluid or cutting oil appropriate for titanium alloys to extend tool life and maintain thread quality. Verify tapping depth and through-hole clearance before initiating the threading cycle to avoid tap breakage.
