The GUHRING 9026010100000 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in non-ferrous metals, aluminum, and similar materials. It carries a 130-degree split point with web thinning to reduce thrust and improve centering on entry. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, which is especially important when drilling aluminum and other gummy or soft metals at higher feed rates. At 5.125 inches overall length with a 3.75-inch flute, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining center toolholders alike. It is sized at 0.3937 inches in diameter with a matching straight-cylindrical shank, making it a direct-chuck tool requiring no adapter.
This drill bit is suited for production machining, job shop work, and maintenance applications where hole quality and tool life in aluminum and non-ferrous stock are priorities. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio and parabolic channel design support deeper drilling passes without packing chips. It is appropriate for use in CNC vertical machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses running at speeds matched to carbide tooling in aluminum. The bright, uncoated finish keeps heat transfer neutral and works well with flood coolant or mist systems, though this bit does not have through-coolant capability.
Designed for drilling aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials (material codes K, N, P). Fits standard drill chucks and toolholders accepting a 0.3937-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of GUHRING Series 2601, sized within the 0.3500 to 0.4000 inch drill bit size range.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with carbide tooling speeds and feeds. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before cutting. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid intermittent cuts, side loading, or using this bit as a reamer. Match spindle speed and feed rate to carbide recommendations for the specific workpiece material to avoid chipping the cutting edge.
