The GUHRING 9024850250000 is a solid carbide replaceable drill tip designed for use with compatible modular drilling systems. Part of the Series 2485 platform, this tip features a 63/64-inch (0.9843 inches) cutting diameter and a 140-degree two-facet point angle optimized for accurate entry and clean exit in ferrous materials. The nano-FIREX coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability during high-feed drilling operations. With a functional length of 0.2128 inches and an overall projection of 0.3940 inches, this tip is suited for precision hole-making where consistent diameter and surface finish are required. Installation is via clamp and screw into a matching seat size 3.2 holder. Machinists and tooling technicians working in production environments are the primary users.
This replaceable tip is intended for drilling into steel, cast iron, heat-treatable steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. It is classified under material grades K20/K40, making it appropriate for cast iron and similar short-chip materials as a primary application, with stainless steel and non-ferrous metals as secondary workpiece materials. The helical, web-thinned flute geometry with regular spiral promotes chip evacuation and reduces thrust force in both through-hole and blind-hole operations across general machining and production environments.
Designed for use with Series 2485 modular drill bodies that accept a seat size 3.2 replaceable tip. Compatible holders must use the clamp and screw retention method matching this tip geometry. No coolant-through capability is present in this tip configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Seat surfaces on the holder should be cleaned and inspected for damage before seating the tip. Secure the tip using the appropriate clamp screw torqued per the holder manufacturer specification — do not over-torque or substitute hardware. Verify cutting diameter and runout with a dial indicator before initiating production cuts.
