The GUHRING 9024640080000 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit engineered for precision drilling in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. Built to DIN specification, this bit features a 118-degree faceted point, a regular spiral flute geometry, and a FIREX coating that reduces friction and extends tool life in high-cycle production environments. The 8 mm diameter bit measures 4.61 inches overall with a 2.95-inch flute length, making it well suited for standard jobber-length drilling applications. It is a right-hand-cut tool with two flutes and a web-thinned point for easier entry and reduced thrust load. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and precision fabricators are the primary users.
This drill bit is designed for general-purpose drilling applications with a primary focus on aluminum and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials (Material Grade K40, Primary Workpiece Material Code N). The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet systems without adapters. Typical use cases include production machining, job shop work, and maintenance drilling where tight diameter tolerances and consistent hole quality are required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderately deep holes up to a maximum drilling depth of 2.48 inches.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement or direct-application solid carbide jobber drill in the GUHRING Series 2464 lineup, suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held drilling equipment accepting an 8 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Do not use this bit for ferrous materials outside its rated material grade without consulting the manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and FIREX coating for chipping or wear before each use and replace the bit if damage is observed.
