The GUHRING 9024640051000 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for precision hole-making in non-ferrous materials, particularly aluminum. Built to DIN standards and coated with FIREX for heat and wear resistance, this bit delivers consistent performance in production and job-shop environments. It features a 118-degree faceted point with web thinning for clean entry and reduced thrust. The 5.1 mm diameter and straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. With a regular spiral and right-hand cut, it clears chips efficiently in the materials it is designed for. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this bit in CNC and manual drilling applications.
This drill bit is suited for drilling aluminum and other non-ferrous workpiece materials in general-purpose applications. The Series 2464 designation places it in a proven product family built around K40-grade carbide substrate. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 44.35 mm (approximately 1.746 inches) without coolant-through capability, making it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate depth holes in lighter alloys and non-ferrous stock on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials; compatible with any machine spindle or chuck accepting a 5.1 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout with a dial indicator before drilling production parts. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; apply external cutting fluid as needed when drilling aluminum to manage heat and chip buildup. Follow the tooling manufacturer and machine builder recommendations for feed rate and spindle speed based on material and hole depth.
