The GUHRING 9024640038600 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. It carries a No. 24 wire gauge size with a decimal diameter of 0.1520 inches and an overall length of 2.95 inches. The bit features a FIREX coating for improved wear resistance and extended tool life. The 118-degree faceted point angle delivers clean entry and accurate positioning, while the web-thinned geometry reduces thrust and minimizes walking at drill entry. Licensed HVAC, machining, and metalworking tradespeople will recognize the Series 2464 designation as a standard general-purpose platform from GUHRING.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in aluminum and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials where consistent hole quality and dimensional accuracy are required. With a right-hand spiral flute and straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 3.86 mm, it mounts directly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 1.465 inches make it appropriate for through-holes and blind-hole applications within typical jobber length reach. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both shop floor production and field maintenance use.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 3.86 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material classification is N (non-ferrous), with aluminum listed as the primary target material. Part of GUHRING Series 2464 general-purpose solid carbide jobber drill family.
This bit is installed by machining professionals and maintenance technicians using standard drill press, CNC, or hand-held power tool setups. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is torqued to the equipment manufacturer's specification before operation. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loading or interrupted cuts beyond the tool's rated capability. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping before each use and replace if damage is visible.
