The GUHRING 9024630046000 is a solid carbide stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit designed for precision drilling in production and machining environments. Built to DIN 6539 standards, it features a 118-degree faceted point angle with web thinning for improved centering and reduced thrust. The 4.60 mm (0.1811 inch) diameter, two-flute spiral design evacuates chips efficiently during right-hand cutting operations. At 2.283 inches overall length and a flute length of 0.945 inches, this compact geometry is suited for rigid, close-tolerance work on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials specify this tool for its K40 carbide grade and general-purpose performance envelope.
This drill bit is rated for primary use in aluminum and targets applications where a short, stiff tool body reduces deflection and improves hole quality. The stub length format limits overhang, making it appropriate for high-speed production runs on automatic screw machines and CNC turning centers. The straight-cylindrical shank allows direct chuck mounting without additional toolholding hardware. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 0.673 inches (17.10 mm), consistent with the 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio. Coolant-through capability is not included in this configuration.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement or direct-fit tooling solution for applications requiring a 4.60 mm solid carbide stub drill conforming to DIN 6539 in Series 2463. Compatible with any machine spindle or chuck accepting a 4.60 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per standard toolroom safety practice. Ensure the chuck or collet bore is clean and free of debris before seating the straight-cylindrical shank to maintain runout within tolerance. Carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to chipping under interrupted cuts or side loading — do not use this drill for slot milling or angled entry. Follow machine manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the workpiece material and confirm maximum drilling depth does not exceed 0.673 inches without pecking cycles.
