The GUHRING 9024630033000 is a solid carbide screw machine length (stub) drill bit designed for precision hole-making in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. It carries a 3.30 mm (0.1299 inch) diameter, an 118-degree faceted point, and a web-thinned geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation at entry. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. With an overall length of 1.929 inches and a flute length of 0.709 inches, this stub-length format provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it well-suited to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations where runout control and hole accuracy are critical.
This bit is built for general-purpose production drilling in aluminum as its primary workpiece material, though the solid carbide construction and coated finish also support use in other non-ferrous and composite materials. The stub flute length and 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio make it appropriate for shallow to moderate-depth holes, with a maximum drilling depth of 0.514 inches. It is commonly used in precision machining shops, CNC job shops, and production environments where tight tolerances and consistent hole geometry are required. The right-hand spiral flute design clears chips efficiently during through and blind-hole drilling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for 3.30 mm straight-shank stub drill bits conforming to DIN 6539 specifications. Fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 3.30 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the intended spindle speed before operation. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side-loading, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and OSHA guidelines for speeds, feeds, and coolant application appropriate to the workpiece material.
