The GUHRING 9024630019900 is a stub-length (screw machine length) solid carbide drill bit with a 0.0785 inch diameter, sized as wire gauge #47. It features a 118-degree faceted drill point, a web-thinned tip for reduced thrust and cleaner entry, and a two-flute regular spiral configuration that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. Manufactured to DIN 6539 standards in material grade K40 carbide, this bit is built for precision drilling in demanding production environments. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals requiring tight-tolerance small-diameter holes.
This drill bit is designed for general-purpose drilling with a primary focus on aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials, though the K40 solid carbide construction also handles plastics and other machinable materials effectively. The stub-length body — 1.496 inches overall with a 0.472 inch flute length — provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine setups where deflection control is critical. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 0.355 inches, consistent with its 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio.
Designed as an OEM-specification stub-length drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collets on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines handling small-diameter work in the 0.0000 to 0.1000 inch diameter range per DIN sizing.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the chuck or collet is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Secure the bit to the full depth of the chuck or collet gripping range to prevent slippage during high-speed operation. Small-diameter carbide bits are brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed reduction, and re-chucking in worn or out-of-round holders.
