The GUHRING 9024630012000 is a solid carbide, stub-length screw machine drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight-clearance applications. Built to DIN 6539 standards, this 0.0472-inch diameter bit features a 118-degree drill point angle and a web-thinned, parallel web configuration that reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation. With a regular spiral flute and right-hand cut, it delivers consistent hole quality in production environments. The submicron carbide grade provides the edge retention and rigidity needed when drilling small-diameter holes where deflection and breakage are primary concerns. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, and precision fabricators are the primary installers of this tooling.
This bit is suited for drilling aluminum and similarly machinable materials in screw machine, CNC lathe, and small-part production setups. The stub-length body limits overhang and maximizes rigidity, making it well matched to high-RPM spindle work where longer drill lengths would flex or wander. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard collets, chucks, and screw machine spindles without adapters. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 8.00 mm flute length support a maximum drilling depth of 0.244 inches (6.20 mm), consistent with through-hole and shallow blind-hole operations on small components.
Designed as a general-purpose stub-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank collets, drill chucks, and screw machine spindles accepting a 0.0472-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use of this tooling should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with small-diameter carbide drill handling. Secure the shank fully in a clean, undamaged collet or chuck to minimize runout, as even minor runout at this diameter significantly increases breakage risk. Carbide is brittle - do not use this bit for hand-drilling or in equipment with excessive spindle play. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended RPM and feed rate guidelines for the workpiece material; no specific values are provided here.
