The GUHRING 9019140020000 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in metric M2 x 0.4 thread form. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, this tap handles the heat and wear demands of threading steel components. The plug chamfer style distributes cutting load across several leading threads, making it well suited for machine tapping in through-hole applications. At 45 mm overall length with a 2.80 mm shank diameter, the 9019140020000 fits standard collet and chuck setups used in CNC machining centers and drill presses. The 6H thread tolerance class and D2/D3 thread limit hold consistent thread geometry across production runs.
This tap is intended for through-hole threading operations in steel workpieces, covering both production machining and maintenance or repair applications. The M2 x 0.4 metric thread specification is common in small mechanical assemblies, electronics hardware, and instrumentation components. The 3-flute design and right-hand thread direction are standard for conventional tapping operations. Series 1914 is GUHRING's cobalt spiral point line, targeting materials that generate heat and cause premature wear on standard HSS taps. Machinists, tool and die makers, and precision machine shops are the primary users.
Designed for through-hole threading of M2 x 0.4 metric threads in steel workpieces. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines equipped with collet or chuck toolholding that accepts a 2.80 mm shank diameter.
Installation and use of this tap should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with tapping feeds, speeds, and cutting fluid selection for cobalt tooling in steel. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are matched to the M2 thread pitch before beginning a tapping cycle. Use an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound to protect the TiCN coating and prevent galling. Inspect the tap for chipping or wear before each use, as tap breakage in small-diameter threads can damage the workpiece and is difficult to recover.
