The GUHRING 9011830075400 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in ferrous metals and cast iron. Built to DIN 6537L standards, it features a 140-degree split-point (SU) geometry and a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating that extends tool life in abrasive materials. The whistle notch shank provides a positive, slip-resistant connection in compatible tool holders. At 91 mm overall length with a 53 mm flute length and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, this bit handles moderate-depth through-hole and blind-hole applications in production and maintenance environments. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed drilling cycles where chip evacuation and heat management are critical.
This drill bit is suited for machining cast iron and steel in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with whistle notch or precision round-shank toolholders. The self-centering SU point reduces the need for a pilot hole on flat or lightly curved surfaces, making it efficient for job shop, maintenance, repair, and production line drilling. It is sized at 19/64 inches (0.2969 inches decimal) and is appropriate for machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance mechanics working with ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting a 0.3150-inch diameter whistle notch shank per DIN 6535. Primary workpiece material codes K and P indicate suitability for cast iron and steel as defined by DIN material classification.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with carbide tooling handling practices. Secure the shank fully in a compatible whistle notch holder and verify runout before cutting. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without proper feed-rate management, and contact with hardened surfaces beyond the tool rating. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling.
