The GUHRING 9011830070000 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit ground to DIN 6537L specifications. It measures 7 mm (0.2756 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 91 mm and a flute length of 53 mm. The 140-degree split point (SU-style) geometry is self-centering, reducing the need for a center punch on most materials. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating increases surface hardness and extends tool life in production drilling applications. The two-flute, regular spiral design promotes chip evacuation in both cast iron and steel workpieces. This bit is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped for whistle notch tooling.
This drill bit is designed for drilling cast iron and steel in industrial and precision machining environments. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 42.50 mm maximum drilling depth make it well matched to through-hole and moderate-depth drilling operations on ferrous materials. The web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust force at the cutting tip. It is commonly used in job shops, maintenance machining, and production facilities where dimensional accuracy and tool longevity are priorities. The whistle notch shank provides secure seating in collet and machine tool holders designed for that shank style.
Designed for use in machine tool holders and collet systems that accept a whistle notch shank with a 0.3150-inch shank diameter, conforming to DIN 6535. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel (material codes K and P).
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling and the machine tool being used. Power down and lock out the machine before installing or removing the bit from the holder. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without proper feed adjustments, and impact during handling or storage. Verify that the spindle speed and feed rate are set to values appropriate for 7 mm carbide in the target material before starting the cut.
