The GUHRING 9011830069000 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter I (0.2717 inch / 6.90 mm) with a 140-degree split point. It carries a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating that extends tool life and reduces friction in demanding materials. The bit runs a right-hand spiral flute in a regular helix and features a whistle notch shank for positive drive engagement in compatible holders. Overall length is 91.00 mm with a flute length of 53.00 mm, making it suitable for moderate-depth through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users of this bit in shop and production environments.
This drill bit is rated for primary use in cast iron and steel workpieces, corresponding to material codes K and P. The self-centering SU point geometry and web-thinned, tapered web reduce thrust load at entry, which is particularly useful when drilling harder ferrous alloys without a center punch or pilot hole. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation at depths up to 42.65 mm (1.679 inch). Internal coolant delivery is supported, allowing this bit to be used in CNC machining centers and turret lathes equipped with through-spindle coolant systems.
Designed for use in cast iron and steel workpieces (material codes K and P). Conforms to DIN 6537 L and DIN 6535 standards. Fits toolholders accepting a 0.3150-inch shank diameter with a whistle notch drive. Diameter falls within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch (6.00 to 7.00 mm) size range of the Series 1183 product family.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the whistle notch shank fully in the toolholder and verify setscrew engagement before running the spindle. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without appropriate feeds, and re-sharpening without proper carbide grinding equipment.
