Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps displace material rather than cut it, producing stronger, smoother internal threads with no chips to clear. This tap is manufactured from High-Speed Steel-E-CO with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating that extends tool life and reduces friction during the forming process. With a modified bottoming chamfer of 2-3 threads, it is suited for threading close to the bottom of blind holes. Overall length is 1.77 inches with a thread length of 0.55 inches.
