The GUHRING 9008300120050 is a cobalt straight-flute machine tap designed for cutting M12x1.00 metric fine internal threads in steel workpieces. Built to Series 830, it features a modified bottoming chamfer that allows threading closer to the bottom of blind holes than a standard taper or plug tap. The right-hand 6H class-of-fit thread limit is rated D4/D5, providing the tolerance range required for standard metric fastener engagement. With a 100 mm overall length and a 9 mm shank diameter, it is sized for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping heads commonly found in production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This tap is suited for blind-hole and through-hole threading applications in steel. The cobalt construction gives it added heat and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel, making it appropriate for tougher steel alloys where heat buildup during tapping is a concern. The straight-flute geometry pushes chips back out of the hole, which is the preferred configuration for through-hole threading and short blind holes where chip evacuation is manageable. It is a single-piece tap intended for machine use rather than hand tapping.
Designed for machine tapping of steel workpieces requiring M12x1.00 metric fine threads. Rated for blind-hole and through-hole threading applications per Series 830 specifications.
Install this tap in a machine tapping chuck or rigid holder sized for a 9 mm shank; do not use in a standard drill chuck without a dedicated tapping adapter. Power down the spindle and secure the workpiece before changing tooling. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or flood coolant externally, as this tap has no coolant-through provision. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the tap manufacturer recommendations for the specific steel grade being threaded before beginning production runs.
