The GUHRING 9007230063500 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create precise starter holes for follow-on twist drills, center drills, or boring operations. Built to Series 723 standards, it features a 90-degree drill point angle and a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) cutting diameter on a straight-cylindrical shank of equal diameter. The 70mm overall length and 17mm spiral flute length make this a compact, rigid tool suited for CNC machining centers and manual drill presses alike. The bright uncoated finish keeps the carbide substrate exposed for use across a wide range of general-purpose materials. Right-hand cutting direction is standard.
This spotting drill is intended for general-purpose spotting and center-locating applications in machining environments. It is typically used by machinists and toolroom professionals working in production shops, job shops, or maintenance departments. The single-ended, two-flute spiral design helps evacuate chips efficiently during short spotting cycles. At 70mm OAL, it fits standard toolholders and collet chucks sized for 1/4 inch shanks without extended-reach adapters in most setups.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style spotting drill compatible with standard 1/4 inch straight-shank collet chucks and drill chucks used in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per shop safety protocols. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the collet or chuck and tighten to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping method before running. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts beyond the tool's rated application, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before production use to maximize tool life and hole position accuracy.
