The GUHRING 9006600001600 is a Series 660 micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in small-diameter applications. It carries a wire gauge size of 96, translating to a decimal diameter of 0.0063 inches, and features a cobalt substrate with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating for extended tool life in demanding materials. The 118-degree faceted point provides consistent entry geometry, while the web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust force at the tip. Overall length is 0.984 inches, with a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 1.00 mm in diameter. Right-hand spiral flutes handle chip evacuation in a standard cutting rotation. This bit is intended for use by machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision fabricators working in tight-tolerance environments.
The Series 660 micro drill is suited for drilling aluminum, titanium alloy, and other non-ferrous and light alloy workpiece materials classified under ISO material codes K, M, N, P, and S. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports controlled chip removal in shallow micro-hole applications. Maximum drilling depth is 0.034 inches (0.86 mm), making it appropriate for thin-wall components, PCB-adjacent metalwork, and small precision assemblies where dimensional accuracy is critical. It conforms to DIN 1899 specification for short micro drills.
Designed for drilling aluminum (ISO K, N), steel (ISO P, M), and titanium alloy (ISO S) workpieces. Compatible with standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand tools accepting a 1.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Micro drill bits at this diameter require a high-speed spindle with minimal runout — excessive runout will cause immediate bit breakage. Secure the shank fully in a collet or precision chuck rated for 1.00 mm shanks before starting the spindle. Reduce feed rate and use pecking cycles to manage chip buildup within the 0.034-inch maximum depth limit. Always power down or e-stop the machine before changing or inspecting the bit.
