The GUHRING 9006590123000 is a stub-length, screw machine drill bit designed for demanding metal-cutting applications where rigidity and chip evacuation are critical. Ground from cobalt high-speed steel, this bit measures 0.4844 inches (31/64 inch) in diameter with an overall length of 4.0157 inches (102 mm). The 130-degree split point with web thinning reduces thrust and improves centering without a pilot hole. The parabolic flute geometry moves chips efficiently out of deep holes, reducing heat buildup and extending tool life in hard or abrasive workpiece materials.
This drill bit is intended for professionals machining titanium alloys and other high-strength metals where standard HSS tooling fails prematurely. The stub-length design provides added rigidity compared to a jobber-length bit, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where chatter and deflection are concerns. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.4844 inches diameter fits standard drill chucks and collet systems. Right-hand cut configuration is standard for conventional drilling operations. Maximum drilling depth is 1.2810 inches (32.55 mm). This bit is manufactured to DIN 1897 specification and is classified as heavy duty grade.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length screw machine drill bit with a straight cylindrical shank suitable for standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting 0.4844-inch shank tooling. Primary workpiece material rating is titanium alloy; also appropriate for other high-strength ferrous and non-ferrous metals where cobalt tooling is specified.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or tool-and-die professionals familiar with speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling in hard metals. Secure the shank fully in a calibrated chuck or collet to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 1.2810 inches without retracting to clear chips. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling titanium or other gummy alloys to prevent work hardening and premature edge wear.
