The GUHRING 9006590021800 is a stub-length (screw machine length) cobalt drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to DIN 1897 specifications, this Series 659 bit measures 0.086 inches (wire size 44) in diameter with a 130-degree point angle and a parabolic flute design. The web-thinned tip reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation, making it a practical choice for shops and field technicians drilling titanium alloys and other tough workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and collet holders without adapters.
This bit is suited for close-quarters or high-cycle drilling operations where a stub-length tool provides better rigidity than a jobber-length equivalent. Its primary target workpiece material is titanium alloy, though the heavy-duty cobalt construction also handles stainless steel and hardened materials in production and maintenance environments. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the typical users. The compact overall length of approximately 40 mm (roughly 1.57 inches) keeps deflection low in CNC drill presses, knee mills, and hand-held pneumatic drills.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length replacement drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems; primary workpiece material is titanium alloy per manufacturer specification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the chuck or collet and verify runout before drilling. Cobalt bits in small diameters are brittle under side-loading — use appropriate feed rates and avoid lateral force. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling titanium or stainless to manage heat buildup.
