The GUHRING 9006590019800 is a stub-length (screw machine length) cobalt drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in difficult materials. Built to DIN 1897 standards, this 5/64-inch (0.0781-inch) diameter bit features a 130-degree split point, a parabolic flute geometry, and a web-thinned tip to reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation. The straight cylindrical shank seats reliably in standard drill chucks. Rated as a heavy-duty grade tool, it is suited for machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling operations where precision and tool life in tough alloys are critical requirements.
This bit is engineered for drilling titanium alloy and similarly difficult-to-machine materials. The stub-length body provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, reducing deflection in short-hole applications. A parabolic flute with a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio promotes efficient chip removal at the drilling depths this bit is rated for. It is equally at home in a drill press, CNC machining center, or manual turret lathe setup where compact tooling is preferred. The right-hand cut configuration is standard for conventional drilling operations.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks, collet holders, and keyed chuck assemblies compatible with tools in the 0.0000-inch to 0.1000-inch diameter range.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with cutting speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling in hard alloys. Secure the shank fully in a clean, true-running chuck or collet to minimize runout before beginning the cut. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery, so apply cutting fluid externally when drilling titanium or other heat-sensitive materials. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use, as cobalt bits in titanium applications are subject to accelerated edge degradation if feeds and speeds are not properly controlled.
