The GUHRING 9006520049800 is a No. 9 wire-size jobber-length drill bit manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. It features a 130-degree split point for fast engagement and reduced walking on entry, a parabolic flute geometry for efficient chip evacuation, and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that lowers thrust requirements. Overall length is 3.375 inches with a flute length of 2.0625 inches. The straight cylindrical shank diameter is 0.1961 inches. Built to DIN 338 heavy-duty grade, this bit is suited for production drilling and general-purpose work in metal fabrication and maintenance environments.
This drill is designed for use on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials, covering primary workpiece material codes K, N, and P. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and parabolic flute form support deeper hole drilling with fewer peck cycles, making it a practical choice for manual drill press work, CNC machining centers, and hand-held drilling operations where consistent hole quality in metallic workpieces is required. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 1.753 inches. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, millwrights, and industrial maintenance mechanics are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option conforming to DIN 338 specifications, suitable for use in any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.1961-inch straight shank. Compatible with steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with drill press, lathe, or CNC machine operation. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before commencing drilling. Appropriate cutting fluid or coolant application is recommended when drilling steel or cast iron to manage heat, even though this bit does not support through-coolant. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when selecting feed rate and spindle speed for the workpiece material.
