The GUHRING 9006520046200 is a No. 14 wire-size jobber-length drill bit designed for productive drilling in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, the bit delivers increased surface hardness and lubricity for extended tool life in high-cycle production environments. The 130-degree split point promotes self-centering and reduces thrust, while the parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation at higher feed rates. Overall length is 3.1563 inches, with a flute length of 1.8438 inches. This is a heavy-duty grade tool conforming to DIN 338.
This drill bit is suited for metalworking applications in both shop and field settings. The straight cylindrical shank with a diameter of 0.1819 inches fits standard three-jaw chucks on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held electric drills. The parabolic flute design performs well in interrupted cuts and deep-hole drilling up to 1.578 inches, where chip packing is a concern. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports consistent chip clearance across the full cutting depth. Machinists, tool and die workers, HVAC fabricators, and maintenance technicians will find this bit suited to everyday metal drilling tasks.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill for use in standard three-jaw chucks and collet-style toolholders accepting a 0.1819-inch straight shank. Suitable for drilling steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials as designated by primary workpiece material codes K, N, and P per DIN classification.
Install the shank fully into the chuck and tighten securely before operation to prevent runout or slippage. Ensure the drill press or machine spindle is powered down and secured before bit changes. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for ferrous materials to control heat buildup, particularly when drilling at the maximum depth of 1.578 inches. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for wear before reuse in production applications.
