The GUHRING 9006520020000 is a jobber length twist drill bit designed for precise, consistent hole drilling in light metals and general-purpose materials. Built from High Speed Steel with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, this bit delivers improved surface hardness and extended tool life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. It carries a 130-degree split point angle with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust force and promotes accurate self-centering at entry. The parabolic flute geometry enhances chip evacuation, which is critical when drilling aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials. Overall length is 1-15/16 inches with a flute length of 15/16 inches, and the straight-cylindrical shank diameter matches the 2 mm bit diameter at 0.0787 inches decimal equivalent.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and plastics, corresponding to material codes K, N, and P. The Series 652 line targets high-performance applications where chip flow and hole finish matter, such as aerospace component work, HVAC sheet metal fabrication, precision mechanical assemblies, and general metalworking operations. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper hole passes with consistent chip clearance. Maximum drilling depth is 0.83 inches (21 mm). It is sold individually and conforms to DIN 338 standards, making it interchangeable with other DIN 338-spec tooling in the same diameter range.
Designed as a DIN 338-compliant jobber length drill bit in the 2.00 mm to 3.00 mm size range, suitable for use in standard drill chucks and CNC drilling spindles that accept straight-cylindrical shanks of 0.0787 inches diameter. Primary workpiece material compatibility is rated for aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and plastics per material codes K, N, and P.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists, toolroom technicians, or trained metalworking professionals familiar with proper drill chuck runout tolerances and feed-and-speed selection for HSS tooling. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck before operation and verify chuck tightness to avoid runout that can cause premature tool breakage at this small diameter. Coolant-through capability is not available on this bit, so external coolant or cutting fluid is recommended when drilling deep holes or working in production volumes. Inspect the cutting edge before each use; TiN-coated HSS bits at 2 mm diameter are susceptible to fracture if subjected to side loading or excessive feed pressure.
