The GUHRING 9005520102000 is a stub-length screw machine drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in aluminum and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. Built from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit features a parabolic flute geometry that improves chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup in deep-hole applications. The 130-degree split point angle with web thinning allows for positive, self-centering entry without a pilot hole. At 0.4016 inches (10.20 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 3.504 inches (89.00 mm), the compact stub profile provides added rigidity in short-reach setups. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC machines, drill presses, and manual lathes.
This drill bit suits production environments where aluminum, soft metals, and similar materials are drilled at moderate depths. The parabolic flute design with a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports efficient chip clearing through a maximum drilling depth of 1.091 inches (27.70 mm). The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. Series 552 is manufactured to DIN 1897 specification, making it a direct fit wherever DIN stub-length tooling is specified. A right-hand cut and two-flute configuration keep the tool running true in both hand-fed and CNC-controlled operations.

Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Confirm the chuck or collet is clean and the shank is seated to the proper engagement depth before tightening. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and drill diameter before starting the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; a dull or chipped point will produce oversized holes and increase the risk of tool breakage.
