The GUHRING 9005520100800 is a stub-length screw machine drill bit designed for high-throughput drilling in production and machining environments. Built from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this Series 552 bit features a parabolic flute geometry that promotes aggressive chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during cutting. The 130-degree split point angle allows for fast penetration with minimal walking on entry. At 0.3969 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches in overall length, it fits standard drill chucks and screw machine setups. The straight-cylindrical shank provides solid, concentric seating in collet chucks, drill chucks, and screw machine spindles. Licensed machinists and tool room technicians are the primary installers.
This drill bit is rated for primary use in aluminum workpieces and is well suited to screw machine operations, CNC drilling cells, and manual drill press work where stub-length rigidity is preferred over jobber-length flex. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and parallel web configuration support consistent performance in short-hole and through-hole applications up to 1.098 inches deep. The web-thinned geometry reduces thrust requirements, making it appropriate for lighter-duty spindles and manual feeds. It conforms to DIN 1897 specification for stub-length drills.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length screw machine drill bit for use in screw machines, CNC machining centers, and drill presses equipped with standard straight-shank toolholders accepting a 0.3969-inch diameter bit.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool room technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet bore cleanliness and concentricity before seating the shank to maintain runout within acceptable limits. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate selection based on workpiece material.
