The GUHRING 9005520087300 is a stub-length (screw machine length) twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in production and machine-shop environments. Built from high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this bit features a parabolic flute geometry and a web-thinned parallel web configuration that improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust in shorter-depth holes. The 130-degree split point minimizes walking on entry without requiring a center punch. Overall length is 3-5/16 inches with a 1-9/16-inch flute length, and the straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. The bit is manufactured to DIN 1897 specification and carries a high-performance grade designation from GUHRING.
This drill bit is sized at 11/32 inches (0.3438 inches decimal) and is optimized for drilling aluminum as its primary workpiece material, though the HSS construction also handles a range of softer ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The stub-length body provides greater rigidity than jobber-length bits, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine applications where deflection control and hole accuracy are priorities. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of approximately 1.059 inches without a peck cycle.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length drill bit with a straight-cylindrical shank, this bit fits standard drill chucks, ER collets, and other straight-shank toolholders commonly used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines. Primary workpiece material compatibility is aluminum per manufacturer specification.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before beginning a cut. Always power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing tooling. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated maximum drilling depth of 1.059 inches without adjusting the machining program to include chip-clearing passes.
