The GUHRING 9005520049800 is a stub-length (screw machine length) high-speed steel drill bit designed for fast, accurate drilling in steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. It carries a wire gauge Size 9 diameter of 0.1960 inches, a 130-degree cone relief point for self-centering entry, and a parabolic flute geometry that promotes aggressive chip evacuation. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.1961 inches in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks or screw machine spindles. This is a right-hand cutting tool built to DIN 1897 specification, finished bright and uncoated. Machinists, tool and die workers, and maintenance mechanics reach for this bit when cycle time and hole quality both matter.
This bit is suited to production drilling and repair work in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and maintenance environments. The stub overall length of 2-7/16 inches provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, reducing deflection in short-depth holes. The parabolic flute design with web thinning handles interrupted cuts and gummy non-ferrous alloys as well as mild and medium carbon steels. Maximum drilling depth is 0.730 inches, making it appropriate for through-holes and shallow blind holes in plate, bar stock, and structural sections. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports consistent chip clearance at typical screw machine feed rates.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length replacement drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks, Jacobs-style chucks, and screw machine spindles accepting a 0.1961-inch shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance mechanics familiar with drill press, lathe, or screw machine operations. Ensure the spindle and any workpiece fixturing are fully secured before initiating a cut. Inspect the shank and chuck jaws for wear or debris that could cause runout before seating the bit. Refer to machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety codes when selecting feed rates and spindle speeds for the workpiece material.
