The GUHRING 9005520047500 is a stub-length (screw machine length) twist drill bit designed for high-throughput drilling in production and maintenance environments. Built from high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it cuts a 0.187-inch (4.75 mm) diameter hole with a 130-degree drill point angle optimized for aluminum and other non-ferrous workpieces. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation at higher feed rates, reducing chip packing in blind holes. Web-thinning at the tip lowers thrust requirements and extends tool life. This bit conforms to DIN 1897 standards and carries a High Performance grade designation from the manufacturer.
This drill bit is suited for screw machine operations, CNC drilling cells, and manual drill press work where a short, rigid tool is preferred over a jobber-length bit. The stub-length body reduces deflection in short-reach setups. Its primary workpiece material rating is aluminum, making it a practical choice for aluminum plate, extrusions, and castings encountered in HVAC equipment fabrication, electrical enclosure work, and general sheet-metal and structural drilling. Right-hand cut and straight-cylindrical shank allow direct chuck mounting without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style stub-length drill bit conforming to DIN 1897, compatible with any standard straight-shank drill chuck accepting a 0.187-inch cylindrical shank. Rated primarily for aluminum workpieces; suitable for other non-ferrous and softer ferrous materials within the High Performance grade application range.
Install and remove this bit with the drill press or CNC spindle fully powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a keyed or keyless chuck before initiating any cut. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before operation. Inspect the cutting edges and flute geometry for wear or damage before each use; do not operate a chipped or visibly worn bit.
