The GUHRING 9005520037000 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a range of materials, with a primary application in aluminum. Built from high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this bit features a parabolic flute geometry and a web-thinned, parallel-web configuration that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduced thrust. The 130-degree split point angles into workpieces without wandering, making it well suited for production drilling environments where accuracy and cycle time both matter. At 0.1457 inches (3.70 mm) in diameter, it delivers a tight tolerance of +0.000 to -0.018 mm.
This stub-length drill bit is built for screw machine work, CNC drilling operations, and short-hole drilling applications where rigidity is more critical than reach. The reduced flute length keeps deflection low and supports consistent hole quality in high-cycle production runs. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working with aluminum and similar non-ferrous or soft materials will find it particularly effective. It conforms to DIN 1897 standards and carries a high performance grade designation. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports a maximum drilling depth of 0.569 inches (14.45 mm).
Designed as a DIN 1897-compliant stub drill bit in the GUHRING Series 552, suitable for use in screw machines, CNC machining centers, and drill presses configured for straight-cylindrical shank tooling with a right-hand cut direction.
Install and remove this bit only with the spindle at a full stop and all power isolated from the machine. Use a properly sized collet, drill chuck, or toolholder matched to the straight-cylindrical shank diameter to ensure full and even contact. Verify runout before initiating a production run, as even minor runout at this small diameter will affect hole tolerance. Follow the machine manufacturer and applicable shop safety guidelines for speeds, feeds, and workholding when drilling aluminum or similar materials.
