The GUHRING 9005520024900 is a stub-length (screw machine length) twist drill bit designed for precision drilling in production and machining environments. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit features a 130-degree split point and a parabolic flute geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces thrust in short-hole drilling applications. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Web thinning and a parallel web configuration reduce the force required to initiate the cut. This is a Series 552 tool conforming to DIN 1897 specifications, intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals.
This drill bit is sized at 0.098 inches diameter (Wire Size 40) and is suited to aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials as its primary workpiece application. The stub-length body provides added rigidity over jobber-length equivalents, making it effective in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools where hole depth requirements are shallow. Typical applications include tapping pre-drill operations, sheet metal work, and fixture-plate drilling where positional accuracy and reduced deflection are priorities.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length replacement drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.098-inch diameter shank. Primary workpiece material designation is aluminum; suitable for other non-ferrous and soft ferrous materials at the discretion of the operator.
Install the straight-cylindrical shank fully into a compatible drill chuck or collet and tighten to the tool-holder specification before operation. Ensure the spindle is at a full stop before tool changes. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling aluminum or other metals to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use; a damaged point affects hole diameter tolerance and surface finish.
