The GUHRING 9005520019900 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. Built from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit features a parabolic flute geometry and a web-thinned, parallel web configuration that improves chip evacuation and reduces cutting resistance. The 130-degree split point promotes accurate positioning and self-centering without a center punch on most workpieces. At 0.0785 inches in diameter (Wire Size 47), this bit is designed for precision hole-making at small diameters where dimensional accuracy is critical. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production drilling operations are the primary users.
This bit is suited for drilling aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, and steel in production and job-shop environments. The screw machine length format — shorter overall length than a jobber bit — provides added rigidity and reduced deflection in drill press, CNC, and turret lathe setups where short-reach tooling is preferred. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks and collets without adapters. It conforms to DIN 1897 specification, making it a recognized standard for stub-length tooling in both domestic and international machine shops.
Designed as a stub-length replacement or production drill for use in standard drill chucks and collets accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at 0.0785 inches diameter, conforming to DIN 1897 geometry in Series 552.
This bit is installed and replaced by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC setup personnel. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before production use, as small-diameter bits are sensitive to chuck concentricity. Power down all spindle drives and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Avoid side-loading or prying with the bit, as small-diameter HSS is brittle under lateral force.
