The GUHRING 9005520013500 is a stub-length (screw machine length) twist drill bit designed for precision hole-making in tight-clearance applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a parabolic flute geometry and a 130-degree split point for fast, accurate entry without a center punch. The web-thinned, parallel-web design reduces thrust load and improves chip evacuation. With an overall length of 1.26 inches and a flute length of 0.3543 inches, this bit is sized for use in screw machine chucks, CNC lathes, and short-stroke drilling operations. It conforms to DIN 1897 standards and is rated as a high-performance grade tool.
This drill bit is optimized for drilling aluminum as its primary workpiece material, though the HSS construction handles a range of non-ferrous and ferrous materials encountered in production machining and precision fabrication. The stub-length format provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for high-speed, high-volume drilling on CNC equipment, drill presses, and screw machines where runout and deflection must be minimized. The right-hand cut and straight-cylindrical shank ensure compatibility with standard ER collets, drill chucks, and quick-change toolholding systems common in production environments.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks, ER collet systems, and quick-change toolholders accepting straight-cylindrical shanks in the 0.0531-inch diameter range.
This bit is installed by a machinist or tooling technician; secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck before use and verify runout with a dial indicator on precision setups. Always power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or mist coolant when drilling aluminum to manage chip welding, even though the tool does not support through-coolant delivery. Follow OSHA machine guarding requirements and the equipment manufacturer's speed-and-feed recommendations for the workpiece material.
