The GUHRING 9005490023700 is a No. 42 wire-size jobber-length drill bit built to DIN 338 standards in high-speed steel (HSS). It features a 130-degree split point with web thinning for fast engagement and reduced walking on hard materials. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, making it well-suited for production drilling in steel, cast iron, and aluminum. With an overall length of 2.25 inches and a flute length of 1.1875 inches, this is a compact, heavy-duty tool designed for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators.
This drill bit is intended for drilling steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials in both production and maintenance environments. The Series 549 designation places it in a heavy-duty jobber category. The straight cylindrical shank allows direct chuck mounting without adapters. Maximum drilling depth is rated at 1.041 inches, suitable for through-hole and blind-hole applications in light to medium stock. It ships individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for shop replenishment and tooling kits.
Designed as a DIN 338-compliant jobber drill for use in standard three-jaw chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.0933-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials as indicated by workpiece material codes K, N, and P.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using any drill press, machining center, or hand-held power drill equipped with an appropriate chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Do not exceed the rated maximum drilling depth of 1.041 inches per pass without retracting to clear chips. This tool does not support coolant-through operation; use external coolant or cutting fluid as required by the workpiece material.
