The GUHRING 9005490015000 is a jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in light-metal and non-ferrous applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 130-degree point angle and a parabolic flute geometry that improves chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at depth. The bit measures 1.5 mm in diameter with an overall length of 40.00 mm (approximately 1-37/64 inches) and a usable flute length of 18.00 mm. Web thinning at the tip reduces entry force and improves centering on soft and gummy materials. This bit is manufactured to DIN 338 standards and is well suited for machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance technicians who require consistent tolerance drilling in production or field environments.
This drill bit is optimized for primary workpiece materials classified as aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and plastics (material codes K, N, and P per ISO designation). Its parabolic flute profile and 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio make it effective in shorter through-hole and blind-hole operations where chip clearing is a priority. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and collet systems without adapters. Series 549 identifies this as a Guhring high-performance jobber-length line conforming to DIN 338 geometry.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.0591-inch (1.5 mm) straight-cylindrical shank. Suited for CNC machining centers, benchtop drill presses, and hand drills operating within the DIN 338 jobber-length tooling envelope.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotary cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 15.75 mm (0.620 inches) per pass without retracting to clear chips. Cutting fluid or light lubrication is recommended when drilling aluminum or plastics to extend tool life and maintain hole quality.
