The GUHRING 9005300055600 is a jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials including cast iron and steel. Built from PM-ASP-60 powdered metal, the bit delivers superior hardness and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel. A FIREX coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding production environments. The 130-degree split point with cone relief geometry starts on contact without a center punch, minimizing walkout. At 3.661 inches (93 mm) overall length with a 2-flute parabolic design, it suits both hand-held and machine applications requiring fast chip evacuation and consistent hole quality.
This drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces in general manufacturing, maintenance, and fabrication settings. The parabolic flute geometry with a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio promotes efficient chip removal at higher feed rates, reducing heat buildup and cycle time. The straight-cylindrical shank provides secure clamping in standard drill chucks and collet holders. It conforms to DIN 338 standards, making it a direct fit for metric and inch tooling setups common in industrial and trade shop environments. Typical users include machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics working on production or repair tasks.
Designed for use in cast iron and steel workpieces per DIN 338 Series 530 specification. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 7/32 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 1.916 inches (48.66 mm) without a pecking cycle to avoid chip packing and bit deflection. Follow applicable shop safety practices including eye protection and proper machine guarding when operating drilling equipment.
