The GUHRING 9005300040400 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and cast iron. It is manufactured from powdered metal and finished with a FIREX coating for extended tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The bit measures 2.95 inches overall length with a 130-degree drill point angle optimized for clean entry on hard ferrous materials. The parabolic flute geometry promotes fast chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup and the risk of chip packing during deep-hole passes. This bit is sized to wire gauge No. 21, with a decimal diameter of 0.1591 inches, and conforms to DIN 338 standards. It is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-and-die professionals working on production or repair applications.
This drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel in both production shop and field maintenance environments. The straight-cylindrical shank seats into standard drill chucks without requiring specialized toolholding. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and fast spiral type make it effective in medium-to-deep hole applications where chip clearance matters. The web-thinned point reduces thrust requirements at entry, which helps when drilling with handheld or lower-torque equipment. Typical applications include through-hole drilling, tap preparation, and clearance-hole work in steel plate and cast iron components. The Series 530 designation identifies it within the Guhring standard jobber drill program.
Designed for use in drilling cast iron and steel workpieces, designated under primary workpiece material codes K and P. Fits standard drill chucks accepting a 4.04 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the GUHRING Series 530 jobber drill program conforming to DIN 338.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Power down and de-energize all equipment before changing or inspecting the bit. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 1.454 inches in a single pass without retracting to clear chips.
