The GUHRING 9005300024900 is a jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials including cast iron and steel. Built from powdered metal (PM) with a FIREX coating, it measures 2.24 inches overall length and carries a wire gauge size of 40, equivalent to 0.0980 inches in decimal. The 130-degree drill point angle and cone relief point geometry are optimized for controlled entry and clean exit in harder workpiece materials. A parabolic flute with fast spiral type promotes efficient chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup and extending tool life in demanding production environments. This bit is suited for machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians working with precision small-diameter drilling applications.
This drill bit is intended for use in ferrous metal applications, specifically cast iron and steel, as designated by workpiece material codes K and P. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it well suited for moderate-depth holes where chip flow and rigidity both matter. The straight-cylindrical shank with an h8 diameter tolerance ensures accurate seating in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Web-thinned geometry at the point reduces thrust force at entry, which is particularly useful when drilling into harder steel grades. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for shop restocking or production tooling programs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production tooling option for applications requiring a wire gauge size 40 jobber length drill bit in straight-cylindrical shank configurations conforming to DIN 338. Rated for primary workpiece materials cast iron and steel (material codes K and P).
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with drill press, CNC, or hand-drill setup procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Power down the machine completely before inserting or removing the bit. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 1.034 inches in a single pass without retracting to clear chips.
