The GUHRING 9005020055600 is an extra length, high speed steel drill bit engineered for deep hole drilling applications. Built to DIN 1869 standards, it features a parabolic flute geometry and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust in difficult-to-drill materials. The bit measures 0.2188 inches in diameter with an overall length of 8.071 inches and a flute length of 5.512 inches, making it well-suited for operations that exceed the reach of standard-length tooling. It carries a Series 502 designation and is supplied uncoated for use across a range of workpiece materials.
This drill bit is designed for deep hole drilling in aluminum and similar non-ferrous and ferrous materials covered by material codes K, N, and P. The parabolic flute profile promotes efficient chip removal at extended depths, reducing the need for peck drilling cycles. Typical applications include precision drilling on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses where hole depth exceeds standard tooling reach. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems. Right-hand cutting direction applies.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 7/32 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are aluminum and related non-ferrous and ferrous materials (material codes K, N, P). Suitable for machining centers and drill presses requiring a 15xD depth-to-diameter capability up to a maximum drilling depth of 5.183 inches.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with cutting tool setup procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Ensure the machine spindle speed and feed rate are set appropriately for the workpiece material and drill diameter before cutting. Inspect the cutting edges and web area for wear or damage before each use; a worn or chipped tip will affect hole quality and can damage the workpiece.
