The GUHRING 9005020031000 is a Series 502 extra length drill bit engineered for deep hole drilling in demanding production environments. Ground from high speed steel (HSS) and left uncoated, it measures 0.122 inches in diameter with a 4.134-inch parabolic flute and an overall length of approximately 6.1 inches (155 mm). The 130-degree split point initiates cuts quickly and self-centers on entry, reducing the need for a center punch. A web-thinned, tapered web configuration lowers thrust requirements, while the right-hand parabolic flute geometry evacuates chips efficiently at extended depths. This bit is sized to a DIN 1869 standard and is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual drill press applications.
Designed primarily for deep hole drilling, the 9005020031000 performs best in aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and plastics — material codes K, N, and P per standard classification. The 15xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 100.35 mm (3.951-inch) maximum drilling depth make it suitable for through-hole operations in castings, extrusions, and plate stock where standard-length bits cannot reach. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders without adapters. Typical applications include fixture plates, manifold blocks, and deep-bore production runs where chip clearance and hole straightness are critical.
Designed as a DIN 1869-compliant extra length drill bit optimized for aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and plastics; fits any standard drill chuck or collet holder accepting a 0.122-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or qualified toolroom personnel. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or precision collet before operation, and verify runout with a dial indicator on critical work. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or mist coolant for aluminum and plastics even though this bit does not have through-coolant capability, as external lubrication extends tool life and improves hole finish at depth.
