The GUHRING 9005010031700 is a taper length twist drill bit designed for precision hole-making in metalworking and general machining applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, this Series 501 bit features a 130-degree point angle and a parabolic flute geometry with web thinning for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust. The cylindrical shank measures 1/8 inch in diameter, matching the 0.1250-inch drill diameter. Overall length is 4-3/16 inches, with a flute length of 2-23/32 inches and a 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio. Diameter tolerance is held to +0.000 to -0.018 mm, making it suitable for close-tolerance work.
This drill bit is rated for use in aluminum alloy and steel. The parabolic flute design promotes efficient chip flow in deeper holes, and the web-thinned, parallel web construction reduces the force needed at the point. It is a general purpose, right-hand cut bit suited for manual drilling, drill presses, CNC machining centers, and similar setups where a taper length reach is needed beyond what a jobber-length bit provides. Maximum drilling depth is 2.530 inches (64.25 mm). The bit conforms to DIN 340 specifications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use taper length drill bit for standard 1/8-inch cylindrical shank tool holders, drill chucks, and collets used in general machining and fabrication setups.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Confirm the shank is fully seated and the chuck is properly tightened before initiating a cut. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed rates appropriate to the workpiece material.
