The GUHRING 9003950097280 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting BSP (British Standard Pipe) internal threads in a range of industrial materials. This Series 0395 tap features three flutes with a right-hand helix and right-hand thread form, sized at 1/8-28 BSP. The TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. With a semi-bottoming chamfer, this tap is suited for blind hole threading where threads need to be cut close to the bottom of the hole. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this tap in production and maintenance environments requiring precise BSP thread forms.
This tap is built for blind hole threading applications across a broad range of workpiece materials including aluminum, cast iron, stainless steel, steel, and nickel titanium alloy. The 1/8-28 BSP thread size is a standard thread form used in fluid and gas fittings, hydraulic components, and instrumentation connections. It is well suited for both manual tapping with a tap wrench and machine tapping on CNC or manual mills and drill presses where spiral flute chip ejection is required. The absence of coolant-through design makes it appropriate for setups using flood or external coolant delivery.
Designed as an OEM-style BSP spiral flute tap for blind hole threading in production and maintenance machining where a 1/8-28 G(BSP) thread form is specified. Verify thread standard and class of fit requirements before installation.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist familiar with BSP thread standards and tapping procedures. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the tap is properly aligned before engagement to prevent tap breakage, particularly in blind holes. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or flood coolant for the workpiece material. When machine tapping, use a tapping head or CNC canned cycle with correct feed rate to match the 1/8-28 thread pitch.
