The GUHRING 9003290039700 is a cobalt stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit designed for demanding metal cutting applications. Built to DIN 1897 standards, it features a 5/32-inch (0.1563 inch) diameter with a 130-degree split point and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The M35 cobalt steel construction with oxide tip coating provides heat resistance and edge retention when cutting hard or abrasive materials. With a 2-flute regular spiral design and straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is suited for production drilling in machine tools, CNC lathes, and drill presses operated by machinists and tool-room technicians.
This bit is optimized for drilling titanium alloys and similarly hard workpiece materials where standard high-speed steel bits lose their edge prematurely. The stub-length (3xD flute-to-diameter ratio) body increases rigidity and reduces deflection in short-reach applications, making it a practical choice for screw machine work, production shops, and precision hole-making setups where tight tolerances are required. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification.
Designed as an OEM-style stub-length drill bit suitable for standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility is titanium alloy; the cobalt M35 construction also suits stainless steel and other hard ferrous and non-ferrous metals in general production drilling applications.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tool-room personnel familiar with proper speeds, feeds, and coolant practices for cobalt tooling. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Do not use cutting fluid systems that are incompatible with oxide-coated tooling; consult the cutting fluid manufacturer when in doubt. Follow all applicable shop safety standards and machine guarding requirements during use.
